On Sunday 29 September, the unmistakable aroma of Modena’s Black Gold welcomed visitors and enthusiasts to the 40 vinegar lofts that opened their doors for the 2024 edition of Acetaie Aperte. A unique experience in the Modena area that allowed families, tourists and food lovers to discover the fascinating world of Traditional Modena Balsamic Vinegar P.D.O. and Balsamic Vinegar of Modena P.G.I.

Guided tours and tastings

Participants had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the history and production secrets of these two iconic Made in Italy products. From guided tours of the vineyards and historic vinegar lofts, to explanations on the processes of must cooking, refining and ageing, each stage recounted a centuries-old tradition handed down from generation to generation.

Inevitable were the tastings, in purity or in combination with local excellences such as Parmigiano Reggiano, which offered visitors an authentic and engaging taste of the infinite nuances of the product. For the more curious, sensory trails and cooking shows highlighted the versatility of Traditional Modena Balsamic Vinegar P.D.O. even in the kitchen.
