Mirella’s strawberries
250 g strawberries
2 spoonfuls of sugar
2 spoons Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena P.D.O.
A few mint leaves
Prepare the strawberries
Carefully wash and dry the strawberries. Cut into thin, uniform slices.
Put the sliced strawberries in a large bowl. For every punnet of strawberries (around 250 g), add 2 tablespoons of Balsamic Vinegar and 2 spoons of sugar.
Marinate
Carefully mix the strawberries with the Balsamic Vinegar and sugar, making sure they are well covered by the condiment. Cover the bowl and put it in the fridge.
Stir the strawberries again after about an hour to redistribute the condiment. Leave to marinate in the fridge for another 3-4 hours so the flavours have time to combine in full.
Serve
When the strawberries have finished marinating, prepare some dessert bowls to serve them in.
Serve the marinated strawberries in the bowls and garnish each portion with a fresh mint leaf.
Variant with ice cream
Alternatively, you can serve the marinated strawberries with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Finish by adding a few drops of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena P.D.O. on the top of the ice cream.
