Traditional Modena Balsamic Vinegar P.D.O. stars at the Venice Film Festival

For the second year running, Traditional Modena Balsamic Vinegar P.D.O. was the protagonist at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, consolidating its link with the world of cinema and Italian excellence. Two special events celebrated this prestigious product in an international context, amidst culture, flavours and art.

Opening Night: an exceptional debut (28 August)

The presence of the Consortium for the Protection of Traditional Modena Balsamic Vinegar P.D.O.  opened with an Opening Night on the evocative Terrace Cinematografo by Atlas Concorde, set up at the famous Hotel Excelsior on the Venice Lido. Here, Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PDO Extra Old (aged over 25 years) was the protagonist of a unique pairing with Parmigiano Reggiano aged 50 months, offering guests an unforgettable sensory experience.

The evening, which also saw the participation of the very likeable actress and writer Chiara Francini, was enriched by a great novelty: the ‘Piacere elevato ad Arte’ award, established to celebrate art in all its forms. The prize was presented by Leonardo Giacobazzi, Vice-President of the Consortium, to film producer Andrea Romeo for the ‘Casa I Wonder’ project, an initiative that brings Italian agricultural and food excellence to the world’s most prestigious film events, from Venice to the Sundance Film Festival.

Enrico Corsini, President of the Consortium, commented: ‘Dedication, authenticity and passion are values that unite the art of filmmaking and the art of know-how of our producers. We are proud to unite the tradition of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PDO with international culture, portraying our product as a true symbol of Made in Italy’.

Traditional Modena Balsamic Vinegar P.D.O.  Food Experience (2 September)

The tale of the Black Gold of Modena continued with an exclusive event: the ‘Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena Food Experience’, led by renowned food critic Francesca Romana Barberini. On this occasion, Extra Old Traditional Modena Balsamic Vinegar P.D.O. met cream ice cream, creating a refined and timeless combination. The guests, immersed in a unique atmosphere, were able to discover how the long ageing of the product – over 25 years – enhances every nuance of the traditional Italian dessert.

Underlining the versatility of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PDO is the special Bloody Mary, prepared with ‘7 drops of Traditional Modena Balsamic Vinegar P.D.O. ’ aged at least 12 years: a tribute to the Modena tradition and the legend of Matilda of Canossa, who used this precious nectar since the 11th century.
